Frankentank - Pendleton, Oregon - Roadside Oddities - Roadside Attractions - Graffiti Tank
Watch this video for a walking tour of this roadside oddity:
This is the information I found on internet on www.roadsideamerica.com
What's the story behind the Frankentank? It lies on the ground next to a set of railroad tracks, some kind of boiler, possibly from an old steam locomotive or business basement. A local artist -- or perhaps a student artist collective -- has turned the tank into a supine Frankenstein's monster, floating on blue waves, dressed in what appears to be a harlequin suit. From out of a painted hole in the monster's chest, which is apparently filled with water, another, smaller Frankenstein's monster is emerging. Both wear big grins, so the transmutation evidently isn't painful.
I did find on the web some info, which facts I have know source knowing...
In 2008, while living in Pendleton, Oregon, for three months, artist Johab Silva painted this graffiti on what seems to be some kind of boiler. It was his first year in the U.S. He moved to the east coast after turning this simple metallic cauldron into a curious supine Frankenstein's monster, floating on blue waves, dressed in what appears to be a harlequin suit. It would seem Pendleton's harsh winters are taking it's toll on the paint, though.
